SimDeck help

A short guide for teachers to run classroom simulations, recover mistakes, and prepare future classes.

Open ClassesHome

Students open SimDeck

  1. 1.Add each student with a name and username; every new code starts at 0000.
  2. 2.Assign roles and cards before class if you want—the student is already part of the roster.
  3. 3.Students open Student sign-in, enter their username and four-number code, and see their own cards.

Use and restore cards

  1. 1.Students use a card from their inventory; the demo asks for a short confirmation first.
  2. 2.Used cards move to the used section.
  3. 3.The teacher can restore used cards from Activity; students cannot restore them from their inventory.

Send cards

  1. 1.Students choose a recipient before sending.
  2. 2.The demo asks them to review the send before it moves the card.
  3. 3.Recent sends can be undone while the card has not moved again.

Edit, duplicate, and deal cards

  1. 1.Open Cards and search or use a saved view.
  2. 2.Filter by category, color, source, or active use.
  3. 3.Edit the selected card panel. Duplicate opens the copy. Deal opens the inventory where the card appears.

Import future cards

  1. 1.Open Cards and paste rows from a sheet or Word table.
  2. 2.Use Clean pasted rows if the spacing is messy.
  3. 3.Edit detected rows in the review queue, then import only new or changed cards.

Run live class mode

  1. 1.Open a class, then choose Run class.
  2. 2.Use the student search, recent moves, and undo queue.
  3. 3.Use live controls to pause sends, require approval, pause use, or lock class.

Create a blank class

  1. 1.Open Classes, then Create blank class.
  2. 2.Choose a theme and description.
  3. 3.Provision students, import cards, create roles, then deal starter cards.

Copy a class

  1. 1.Open Templates and choose Use template on the class you want to adapt.
  2. 2.Enter a class name and, if helpful, a school year or section.
  3. 3.SimDeck makes a fresh editable class with no students or live activity, then opens Students setup.

Build roles

  1. 1.Open Roles.
  2. 2.Add cards under This role starts with these cards.
  3. 3.Use the assignment wizard to preview before dealing.

Review legacy requests

  1. 1.Open Students.
  2. 2.Older class-code or email accounts remain visible only for migration.
  3. 3.Give each older roster row a username; its existing roles and cards stay attached.

Lock or pause class

  1. 1.Open Settings.
  2. 2.Use classroom safety controls to pause sends, require approval, disable use, or lock the simulation.
  3. 3.Teacher controls still work while students are paused.

Export a backup

  1. 1.Open a class overview or More.
  2. 2.Use Download CSV backup for spreadsheet backup.
  3. 3.Use Open print backup for a paper fallback before class.

Restore a backup

  1. 1.Open Settings and paste a restore backup JSON.
  2. 2.Check the dry-run preview counts.
  3. 3.Type RESTORE BACKUP only when the preview looks right.
